Bombers Drop Road Trip Opener

Lafayette, LA – July 12, 2018 – The road trip did not start in the way the Bombers would have liked, as they fell to the Cane Cutters 3-2. Acadiana, winners of 12 of their last 13 games, move within one game of the TCL leading Bombers.

The first run of the game came from the Bombers, as Alex Nielsen scored on an error from the Cane Cutters’ third baseman to give the Bombers an early 1-0 lead. That lead would be brief as the Cane Cutters scored a pair of runs in the fourth inning to take a 2-1 lead. The home team would then add a needed insurance run in the bottom of the eighth inning, to give Acadiana a 3-1 lead. The Bombers would attempt a comeback in the ninth, with Cam Haller scoring on a Cam Blake double with two outs to put the Bombers in position to tie the game. However, Christian Sepulveda flew out to right field to end the game after Blake advanced to third base on a passed ball.

The Bombers road trip continues tomorrow, where they will take on Acadiana for the series finale, before traveling to Victoria. The Bombers return to Travis Field on July 16th to take on the Texas Marshals.
