Bombers Clinch Home Field Advantage

Victoria, TX – August 5, 2018 – The Bombers stood up to the pressure of a road series with Victoria to determine who would win the TCL Regular Season crown. The Bombers took that title by defeating the Generals 3-2, making sure that the Bombers would host the decisive game 3 of the TCL Championship series if the Bombers advance past Acadiana in round one on Wednesday.

Tonight the Generals struck first, scoring their only two runs of the game in the first inning to take the 2-0 lead. The Bombers tied things back up in the fifth inning as Cole Coker doubled home a pair of runs to even the game at 2. Chase Kemp then gave the Bombers what would be the winning run in the 8th inning, after he drove home Casey Danley to make the score 3-2.

The Bombers pitchers were strong tonight, as Zach Iverson provided the team 5 innings of 2 hit baseball, while striking out 5 Generals. The Bombers bullpen was even more impressive, completing the other four innings, with Cody LeCompte and Bryce Miller pitching two innings apiece. Both Bombers relievers did not allow a hit and combined for 5 strikeouts in relief.

The Bombers complete the regular season tomorrow. The Bombers will host the first round of the playoffs on August 8th at Travis Field at 7:05. Tickets for the 2018 TCL Playoffs are on sale now at bvbombers.com.
