Bombers Take Series Opener

08/03/2018 12:50 PM -

Bryan/College Station, TX – August 3, 2018 – The fireworks weren’t the only explosions seen at Travis Field tonight as the Bombers offense exploded for double digit runs in the 10-1 victory over the Acadiana Cane Cutters. The win will make sure the Bombers will wake up tomorrow still in sole possession of first place in the TCL.

The Bombers jumped on the Cane Cutters early, scoring 5 runs in the 2nd inning to take the early lead. Christian Sepulveda brought home the game’s first runs with a two run double. Coke Coker followed that up with another two run double and then came in to score on a RBI groundout from Casey Danley. The Cane Cutters responded with a run of their own to make the score 5-1 after three. The Bombers would then go back on the offensive as Alex Nielsen drove in Sepulveda on a RBI double of his own followed by a Bennett Inoff sac fly to make the score 7-1 in favor of the Bombers.

The Bombers continued their offensive success in even numbered innings, as Bennett Inoff notched his second RBI of the game with a RBI double that brought home Chase Kemp to make it 8-1 Bombers. Inoff’s day was not over as in the 8th inning he crushed a triple to center field and came in to score on a Casey Danley groundout to give us the 10-1 final. On the mound, Jesse Heikkinen went 6 strong innings for the Bombers, only allowing the one Cane Cutters run to score, while striking out 6 Cane Cutters on the night.

Tomorrow is the regular season home finale at Travis Field, as the Bombers once again take on the Cane Cutters. The Bombers finish the regular season against the Victoria Generals in a matchup that will determine the overall standings champs and who will have home field advantage in the post season. The Bombers will host the first round of the playoffs on August 8th at Travis Field at 7:05. Tickets for both of these matchups are on sale now at bvbombers.com.
